Barber's Design Notes:

This attractive little cottage is in style, one of many phases of colonial work. The plan is compact, thus getting good room without covering much ground. As the hall is to be used as a sitting room, the stairs were placed in the front in order to give ample space around the fireplace. Miss Mears herself suggested the arrangement of the floors by rough sketches from which this house was developed, and she included many nice features. A good cellar, containing a furnace, etc. is provided. Weather-boarding is used on the first story with shingles on the second story and roof. Neat interior finish of inexpensive woods are used. Size 32 x 43 feet over porches. Stories are 9 feet 6 inches and 8 feet 6 inches respectively. The price includes a furnace, plumbing and all complete.
