The material for outside walls and porch posts, for the first story is vitrified paving brick, giving quite a number of excellent advantages, that of dryness for the interior, coolness against the summer's heat and warmth in winter. For the second story we have shingles stained a bronze green; the roof is of black slate. All the floors are double. The porch floors are reinforced cement, as well as all the porch balusters and handrail. The interior treatment is in quartered oak for the first floor, select pine for the second floor. The heating and plumbing are the most modern and up-to-date in every way. The attic is finished complete in one large room which is lighted and ventilated by four large dormer windows. The bricks are laid with raked mortar joints. The arrangement of the first floor is one giving a beautiful treatment across the front from dining room to living room, the living room having a back parlor or living room extension, making a beautiful apartment. Five chambers with bath, linen closets, and clothes closets make up the conveniences of the second floor. The front door is a very handsome feature, the exterior of which is shown in the group of interiors. Size 68x68 feet over porches; heights 11 and 10 feet.

Barber mentions C. M. McClung (Mathew's nephew) as the client for this home, but this is likely a typo as city directories show Mathew McClung as the resident.
